This program will provide an introductory overview of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), scientific research and strengths and needs associated with the diagnosis including communication, social interactions and co-existing conditions.  Additional information will include treatment options and a discussion of autism across the lifespan.

Learning Objectives: 
At the conclusion of the class, participants will be able to
  • Identify the signs and characteristics of autism
  • Discuss how autism affects the functioning of the brain
  • List treatment options and interventions used with children and adults diagnosed with autism
Norma Farruggia received her MS. Ed. from Buffalo State College in Special Education.  SHe is currently a Behavior Specialist Consultant.  She has worked as a classroom teacher, clinical supervisor and special education coordinator.
