Program Description

This program will teach caregivers of people with disabilities how to prevent and replace problem behaviors by using positive behavior supports. The audience will learn:

  • How behavior analysts use natural consequences and rearrange settings to promote appropriate behavior.
  • Simple techniques to use every day, such as visual supports, first-then rehearsal, and providing choices.
  • How to prevent aggressive and challenging behavior.

This program has been developed with caregivers in mind and will be interactive. Audience members will have opportunities to create their own plans, discuss new ideas and share their personal experiences, and ask questions of the speaker.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants will:

  1. Identify behavior patterns and their causes using a behavior analysis approach.
